This world-class hotel has it all figured out-they blend marvelous architecture, a breathtaking location above a massive waterfall with exceptional food, spa treatments and then add in a luxurious room - what more could you ask for?

Set atop the crest of Snoqualmie Falls-considered by many to be a sacred place-the Salish Lodge & Spa looks over the dramatic 268-foot waterfall and lush forests and mountains beyond.

The Salish Lodge's rustic elegance permeates its Northwest lodge décor, with a stone floor entryway and wood accents throughout. The first Lodge was built in 1916 as a food and rest stop to meet the needs of waterfall-seeking tourists. Today, Snoqualmie Falls is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the state of Washington-and the Salish Lodge is the place to truly appreciate its beauty.

A Classic Lodge

All the lodge's 89 guestrooms feature one king or two double beds and are elegantly decorated with tasteful black and white Snoqualmie Falls photography and custom built furniture. Most of the rooms face the Snoqualmie River, and many have small decks.

The sleek bathrooms feature specially blended Salish toiletries. After soaking away the workweek in the two-person, oversized whirlpool spa baths, the natural place to relax is in front of the room's fireplace. A bedtime chocolate and the feather bed is most welcome with its down pillows and 320 thread-count linens. The gentle sounds of the waterfall wash away any lingering stress.

For those looking for even more relaxation, the spa provides ample indulgence, with an Asian-inspired setting and signature treatments such the heated stone massage and Snoqualmie Falls foot refresher. The eucalyptus steam room, dry sauna, and therapeutic soaking pools are available at any time throughout a spa visit.

Tranquility continues in the lodge library, where a roaring fire, books and board games await. Morning coffee and afternoon tea are available for guests every day.

Notable Culinary Tradition

Dining is an essential experience at the Salish Lodge. Built around the original 1916 fireplace, the dining room combines Northwest character and casual elegance for a special dining experience guided by Executive Chef Roy Breiman. In its renowned restaurant, called simply The Dining Room, guests can feast on the same famous four-course country breakfast that has been the talk of many local towns for generations.

With extensive experience working in Michelin starred restaurants, Chef Roy has traveled the world learning about the foods of diverse cultures and enriching his palate. He brings to the Salish Lodge a powerful combination of culinary traditions from the grand cities of Europe to the bustling streets of Southeast Asia.

Mardi and I like to indulge in the exceptional tableside service-and, of course, the beautiful view; not to mention the largest selection of Northwest wines and their award-winning wine list. Chef Roy's flawless Oregon Country beef chateaubriand comes with a smooth béarnaise sauce, and I can't stay away from their Valrhona chocolate "bombe" with a soft truffle filling. For a more casual meal, the Attic Bistro serves lunch and dinner every day and offers a bird's eye view of the falls, with meals made with the same skill and fresh ingredients as the Dining Room.

Explore the Foothills of the Cascades

Salish Lodge & Spa's location puts many different outdoor activities and excursions within easy reach. A bike, trail, or even a kayak provides sweeping views of beautiful foliage and rocky peaks-all in the serenity of the Snoqualmie Valley.

Years ago I proposed to my wife while on the rocks below the falls. Now we are able to celebrate that day and our fourteen years of marriage by having dinner at the lodge and looking down on the spot where I proposed.
