Nestled in the mountains above Leavenworth and overlooking a broad meadow, this four-season resort has it all- full days of activities, gourmet meals and luxurious rooms to re-charge your batteries for the next day.
Nestled in a 20-acre alpine valley at an elevation of 1,000 feet above the valley floor, the Mountain Home Lodge offers the ultimate romantic rendezvous. While only two miles from the Bavarian-themed village of Leavenworth, its location is so secluded that guests are brought in by the lodge's own Snowcat in winter.
In this playground of the gods deep in the Wenatchee National Forest, outdoor activities span every season, the cuisine is superb and your total relaxation is assured. Whether you reserve one of 10 guest rooms in the lodge, or choose a private cabin, you will experience a unique blend of high class luxury and high country adventure in a resort destination setting.
A Northwest Lodge that's a Dream Come True
Your hosts are Brad and Kathy Schmidt, two professionals from different coasts who exchanged their advertising/banking corporate lifestyles for the opportunity to pursue a dream they so often talked about.
Built in 1984, the lodge's open spaces seem to connect you directly to the outdoors. The glass walls of the vaulted dining room overlook the Stuart Mountain Range. The entertainment room offers surround sound movies, plush leather chairs for lounging and tables with games to play, but my favorite is the reading loft with comfy chairs and a spotting scope to enjoy the inspiring view through the windows.
All rooms offer a private bath. Some also have private balconies, fireplaces and Jacuzzi spas. Each room is themed to the outdoors (the Cascade Suite, the Mountain Trout, etc.) and is outfitted with contemporary Northwest furnishings. Wireless Internet is available throughout the resort.
The two custom built cabins are atop their own ridge. Intended for just two people, each cabin features the ultimate in privacy, spectacular views of the Cascades, a hand carved king size bed, private deck, river rock fireplace, refrigerator and indoor river rock spa tub.
Seasonal Menu of the Northwest's Rich Bounty
The complementary full gourmet breakfast comes with fresh fruits, their signature Mountain Home Lodge Granola and a Chef's selection. Maybe it's the rarified air, but Executive Chef Thomas Obregon's Northwest Eggs Benedict with smoked wild salmon and lemon hollandaise is the best I've ever had (and Mardi loves his pumpkin pancakes with warm organic orchard apples and lodge-made cider syrup).
In the winter season (mid-November through March) lunch and a four-course dinner are also included with the cost of your lodging. Drinks are extra (primarily Northwest wines and micro brewed beers/ales). Year-round there are treats such as freshly baked cookies, seasonal fruit and Lodge blended trail mix.
First Class Resort Amenities
Onsite you will find a heated seasonal pool, lighted tennis court, basketball, volleyball and 40 miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking. Three excellent golf courses are nearby and Leavenworth offers wine tasting, shopping, galleries and more.
Once the snow starts to fly, the lodge has equipment for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, guided snowmobiles tours and sledding on their own 1700 foot toboggan run. Year-round, the outdoor Jacuzzi offers welcomed relaxation and a wondrous star show above your head. No matter what your sign is, you'll be sure to thank your lucky stars that you discovered the natural beauty and serenity of this romantic mountain resort.
